I arranged one final meet up in Tokyo before I returned back to the wonderful world of farming cucumbers. Kyoto station was an impressively modern building, with an almost neverending series of escalators going up to the heavens, a rooftop garden and the Japan famous shinkansen.
Whilst the rickety old night bus took 8 or more hours to go from Tokyo to Kyoto, the super smooth shinkansen took only 2 hours all be it double the price at 10,000 yen (about £50). However I must confess whilst whizzing through the Japanese countryside at speeds of 270km/hour I did fall asleep. But I needed to recharge for the nights events.
2 Japanese, 1 French, 1 English, suffice to say we went on a real mans bar crawl and somehow ended up in a Karioke place until 6 in the morning. Unlike my previous experience with karioke this was a much more enjoyable affair even with the inclusion of Barbie Doll!!! Yes thats right Amyeric convinced me to duet with him graciously accepting the girls part. Not that it really helped. I broke down with laughter several times through the song due to Ameyricks brilliant representation of a barbie doll. Another highlight was a rendition of 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' by Noritaka and myself. In my drunken opinion it didn't sound too bad and we are planning to take it on the road next spring!!!
So that was that. In summary my holiday was amazing. I was able to experience 3 very different areas of Japan, met some great people, made some good friends and the weather wasn't bad to boot. The only problem is, there is a very strong risk that the little bug people sometimes get could have climbed it's way into my own head and is planning to lay its "eggs of longing" inside the adventurous part of my brain....
I think its time to go to bed I feel exhausted and playing soccer tonight after a long break almost killed me!
Final final Brucy Bonus: Spot the difference!
