Hi Kate I have less than 2 weeks to go and I have not heard anything about New Zealand...

However I was wondering what would be the implications of leaving the IAEA programme and staying in Japan for a further 6 months. Would I be entitled to any kind of refund? Would I still be covered by insurance?

It is just a small idea floating about in my head at the moment

Matthew

Hi Matthew

Sorry - I know that our NZ office are working frantically trying to get you the type of placement you really want. At the moment they have nothing definite to tell you. I have made enquiries with our Head Office about any possible refund if you decided to stay in Japan for another 6 months.

I don't think there is any problem with the insurance part of it.

One thing you would need to check is whether it is possible to extend your visa or apply for a tourist visa or something while you are out there. I am not sure what the situation would be for you to stay longer, so perhaps you should check this out with the authorities over there before you make a decision.

I will come back to you when I have heard back from our head office regarding any refund that you would be entitled to.

You really enjoy Japan don't you!

Katie
