Wai o Tapu and Kiwi 360

Yikes this is going to be a late one in the grand old scheme of things.

The date was the 16th and 17th, another beautiful weekend. Previously the weather had taken a cold spell misleading me into thinking that the great Kiwi Summer was over. This was not so...

To kick things off myself and Canadian Gill went for a relaxing stroll around the thermal wonderland known as Wai o tapu. It was a very interesting place with wonderfully diverse colours bubbling out from some cave or jetting out in a geyser.

After Wai o tapu we stopped off at Canadian Mels house, she was in the process of booking some holiday activities for her family who were coming over for the next two weeks. This meant that this weekend would be the last time I saw her before I had to make my way home. The end was certainly nigh...

A small poker party was held in Taupo in the evening and the next day we headed out to an attraction known as Kiwi 360. It was an interesting tour around a Kiwi fruit orchard and a good opportunity to get to know a couple of new trainees and spend some quality time with my good friend Mel.

The weekend was capped off with a nice meal in the artsy ocean town of Tauranga. Mel, hopefully I will see you again someday, safe travels to you madam...

Ah, so you're going for the redeye flight home. You do realise that any British airport in the early hours will win awards for sheer grimness?

Oh, and that walk you showed pictures of in your last entry ... you do realise there's a term for people who post pictures like that. It starts with "utter, utter" and ends with swearing.

Stay alive, and see you soon. I hope.
