South Island Tour - The Aftermath

It is a few weeks after the tour now and thankfully I have caught up with a large proportion of the trainees. Things on the nursery however have gone a little differently. On my first day back at work I found that two workers had been laid off, which was disappointing. I also arrived to news that there was to be a complete staff restructuring which meant that Richard, production manager and person I was sharing the house with, was also being made redundant.

On the upside me and Raph had full reign of the house (there have already been a few parties) on the downside it suddenly dawned on me that Richard wasn't actually a bad bloke. He kept himself to himself in the house but always maintained a level of interest in our activities. And he was also a very good boss, the first few days saw many staff members looking lost or clueless as to what they were supposed to be doing. However Richard and Phillip never really saw eye to eye and barely communicated so maybe it is for the greater good. In any case Richards send off was certainly one to remember and I could see that a lot of the staff had a great level of respect for him.

With the departure of Richard came Phillip with a cleaning crackdown. So on the weekend myself, Raphael and new boy Ronnie set about making the house look at least half respectable. Ronnie is Raphaels buddy and a perfectly likeable fellow. However he is now going through the same trials and tribulations that I underwent in trying to obtain a work visa.

So the world is a little topsy turvy at the moment but not quite as topsy turvy as it will be in about 3 weeks time!!!
