What a difference a long weekend makes!
This weekend was a labour day weekend (the equivilent of a bank holiday weekend) and it was great. Raphael and I offered our services for the world famous 3 dollar sale, a neat little way to get rid of stock, and worked all 3 days. The work was highly enjoyable, essentially doing rat runs to collect plants and keep the “bargain bin” topped up on the highly exhilarating Kawasaki Mules, like quad bikes but slightly safer.
The weather was very nice, we almost made it without lighting the fire last night. We had a superb meal around Phillip the bossmans house, roast beef freshly slaughtered from the herd that Phillip owns. It was the most tender and succulent beef I have ever tasted, light years away from super market beef and a true indication of the stress that most cattle go through.
And oh how could I forget… I bought a super dooper automobile. 1995 Nissan Bluebird 150, 000 kms on the clock, power steering, electric windows and central locking for only 600 smackers… Bargain.
So no more bouncing around the four walls of the hut any longer, food can be bought as and when it is needed and most importantly I can actually start to see some of this country. Today we drove around the whole of lake Taupo, Australasias largest lake, which was highly enjoyable and incredibly scenic. The months ahead look very promising what with the weather getting better and acquired mobility, life is pretty good.

Hi Matthew
Last week I thought I had posted a message - but clearly it didn't work. It read soemthing like:-
"I have only just found your new blog. I am so pleased to hear from you again - I have been missing your updates very much and am pleased to hear that things are settling down". Even better now you have your car. Take care and have fun!
