Ha ha that is of course a joke, everything is going great as usual. You were meant to take that headline in a very literal sense because around these parts everything has been trying to eat everything else:
1: I watched a glorious bronze beetle land on our hedge and get caught up in a cobweb an equally beautiful golden spider leapt out and tried to attack. Unfortunately I was called away for something in the middle of this epic battle. But when I came back the spider was by itself looking a little forlorn (yes spiders feel the emotion of disappointment!)
2: On my day off I went to another park, except this time I had to pay, where I witnessed another example of nature doing its thing. I saw a rustling in the bushes so curiously wandered over and crouched down to get a better look. Oh look a cute little frog (I say little, he was about the size of my fist) but wait he appears to be moving backwards in a sort of effortless dragging fashion... and why is he now clinging on to that plant for dear life??? The truth was he was being half consumed by a snake... a snake that looked alarmingly big by the now violent shaking of the undergrowth. I decided to move on.
3: Mosquitoes are eating me! I don't normally have too much bother from them but Japanese mosquitoes like the taste of English-man flesh. I am beginning to think I should have taken that vaccination for Japanese Encephalitis!
4: Cats are eating my dinner!!! - There are a number of cats that come mooching about the place including one slightly more endearing (not to mention a slightly more noisy) one. I started off by calling her Kim because she was noisy, annoying and furry just like my Phillipino companion. But decided to settle on Flotsam due to the confusion that would inevitably follow. Anyway young Flotsam took it upon herself to relive Kim and myself of our dinner on soccer night and even had the audacity to come begging the next night. I may have given in to her ridiculous mewing and fed her even though I am not supposed to because it will attract the others.... or I may have not...
5: (Just to keep with this theme) Otosans plane will be eating up fuel as it passes over the pacific ocean. He is going on a 10 day trip to Canada and Mexico (with the promise of bringing back Tequila no less). This of course means we are a man down. So it is all hands to the deck and no days off for the duration of his trip.
6: Finally as always my time is being eaten up more and more quickly. 2 months seem to have just vanished already!!!

PS. Apologies for the annoying song but I had a challenge to beat. Although I do think it does a damn good job of covering the subjects of this blogpost: Frogs (Point 2), Cats (Point 4), Strange buzzy sound (point 1[the beetle] and point 3[mosquitoes]) and the line "we all stand together" (Point 5 and everything else in life really!!!)
........ Sorry

I quite like this song actually as it always reminds me of a boat ride at some theme park we went to once (can't remember which one though now - definately getting old!!) Sounds a bit like springwatch there (a programme we have been watching here) where all the baby birds seem to be eating everything including each other when food is short. Oh well survival of the fittest I guess. Glad all is well, two months may seem to have gone quick for you, but it feels like two years here and I think I speak for all family members!!! Take Care. lots of love Mum x
Dear Matthew, From the photographs you have taken the parks look beautiful. How far do you travel to them?
You seem to be making the most of your leisure time broadening your (and our) horizons.
We also like the way you treat your naughty correspondents.
Love Granny and Grandadxxx
