However it was too late for me, I had begun to dwell on his statements. It is wednesday now and everything seems to be fine (almost as if nothing happened) but in my head I still feel like I need to prove myself and become accepted... again. So for the past four days I have been silently working harder than ever and even faster than the philipinos (excellent workers due to their small size, nimble fingers and resistance to the heat). It is this kind of passive strategy I use to show Mr Sakaki my frustration although I have also tried to confront him about the "other farm" comment. I didn't go anywhere on monday, but Mr Sakaki tried to get me to go out in the truck. I replied that I wanted to relax because I was anticipating a busy week, if he heard this he didn't acknowledge it.
So there you have it not all fun and games. Hopefully it will just be a minor blip. It was all going a bit too smoothly anyway...probably
As a side note to this little debarcle, Okosan did recieve a Mothers Day card (albeit a day late) from us which apparently made her very happy. I was even given a stylish hand me down jacket for apparently no reason.
Here are a few pictures that probably should have been posted a while ago:
Firstly the Japanese symbol for "river" drawn by me:
A picture of someone from Dragon Ball Z and a character calling himself doramon who everyone knows except me!!!
Karate and kendo demonstration at Akagi shrine:
The fairly quiet town of Kiryu:
Believe it or not this is a croquet pitch next to the railway.

Hi Matthew
Not quite such a happy blog. You know that the Japanese are a very respectful nation, which must include their home. So we hope (ha ha)that you are keeping your room tidy.
As for your work ethic you always worked hard when you were here.
You haven't been taking too much of the falling over water have you?
Keep smiling.
Love G&G xxx
Dear matthew, so sorry you are going through a rough patch at the moment, but just remember everybody has their off days and gets a bit cranky now again (you should be used to that living with me)!! Anyway you have shown amazing resilience so far and we know that you are working very hard in every aspect of life in Japan. Keep it up. Lots of love Mum x
How far away is Kiryu -those mountains look great for an explore. Is there much evidence of people walking their dogs, any evidence of people even having pets? I don't think the Japanese ever 'do' excuses. If you are late cos the train blew up in a tunnel, for example, I think you just have to apologize for being late. Well done for working hard -are you able to listen to anything whilst you are slaving away or are you working too hard for that? You still haven't said what a typical days work is like -I only know that I would find it too hot to even be in there for more than five minutes.
I keep posting comments on this blog, but they get deleted, freedom of speech issue!
Nah I'm kidding moderate as you see fit, how is the situation as regards work going?
The Japanese as I'm sure you've been made aware have a very hard work ethic so don't feel too disheartened.
Soldier on through, eat fish and then joke about nuclear weapons, they'll think you're fantastic.
LOVE YOU!
SCOTTY
Doramon is a legend, He's a giant blue cat, he had a game on the N64!!! How can you not remember him???
Wasn't that Goemen? The guy with the blue hair?
